Hmm

For foreverpiper:

Right now i’m just looking for a better job that actually suits what i want to do with my life, rather than the crap that i’m in now. I’m not as fucked, but i feel mentally fucked.  Haha I got sent home today for showing up late, cz i overslept : p

My Final Project… Greg Jemmott (Video Collage of Footage From “Show your stuff” Night)

Hah LL Cool J swagger, Even though this a very corny commercial.  You’ll still catch me getting some good old spice : )

Hmm History has been made…

Well i rounded out about of couple of my friends back at home, they hung out w/ me and my parents when watching the T.V. for the big showdown.

My friends and I was able to look at the computer to see how the electorial votes were counted up, I knew Obama was gunna win : ), i was more curious about the state of VA. I have to say i’m very proud to found it that it swung democratically.

But yea Obama wins, of course we all celebrite and drink a lil, unfortunately since i was an hour late for work the next morning haha.  The next day while my mom was finding some Obama postes to put up in the room, I was curious to see how my fellow facebook bloggers thought about it.  Many of them have massive support, others which were my republican friends were very shocked and more pissed off than i thought they’d take it.  It was kinda funny, yet kinda sad at the same time.  Honestly it did anger me a little bit that some people think that it’s the end of the U.S. just cause Obama won.  It sucks too cz i feel like i can’t speak my true opinions to my fellow republican voters of why i think he’s the better candidate than McCain, because I rather not have them judge me on a personal.  Doesn’t that make any sense?  How united we are, yet we will always be divided between these two parties.  I’m awaiting the change that our new president has planed for us.

p.s. kinda sucks a lil, i’ll miss making fun of Bush : )

Hey… Greg here..

This is about me and my personal battles with motivation and confidence when it comes to my work in art… I listen to inspiration voices to keep me moving forward

5 Wants and 5 Don’t Wants…

Over the years I’ve actually had some expections i would like to see in my own work.

Good Qualities I want in my work —-

1.  Excitement for the viewer as much as myself.  Wow factor

2.  Beautiful Images, Something nice to look at.

3.  With a little mystery, to keep people second guessing

4.  Even a bit of weird or unusual , to keep it intense

5.  A little bit of Contrast, with lights and darks, size, or color.

Things to Stay away from —-

1. Boring, Uninteresting

2.  Confusing… Don’t want to have the viewer miss my message if i choose to have one.

3.  Too Busy-  Any unnecessary things that I don’t wanna have displayed in my work.

4.  Offensive to myself or others to take in an offensive manner.

5.  The feeling of incompleteness - I’ve always had this problem that something is missing in a particular piece, but can’t figure out what.

Geico : )

Sry for Posting so late… Busy : /

1. What separates Fine Art and Commercial Art…. especially within moving image work?(qualification:  Don’t go into “One is boring and one is interesting.” Let’s consider that you need to see enough of something before you can really judge that. What if a “knee-jerk” response is not enough?)

Well Learning from AFO, i basically know that Fine Art is just basically different works such as Painting, Sculpting, Dance, etc.  There’s no media purpose, just a meaning behind it and being able to express your artistic feelings with other people around you.  Now with Commercial Arts kinda speaks for itself, it’s types of arts in my opinion that needs to meet a specific quota, like reach a certain goal to catch the public’s attention for mainly business purposes. Mayble more on the lines with Computer Designs, Animation, Video, etc.

2. Where and when and how do these two types of work meet up?

I think all the time, because Fine Art and Commercial Art are basically the same kinds of art.  Both of them produce beautiful pieces around the world.  You’ll probably see them around billboards. The works are the same, but just have a different meaning behind them. I might be throwing a guess in, but maybe the Geico Commerical? It’s visually interesting when drawing out the lizard and creating a fun senerio for entertainment (FA), but it has a mission as well to advertise for Auto insurance (CA).  So i actually think i can see it all around.

Hmm…My Influences

Greg Jemmott…

A. Who are your influences?

Well it’s hard to answer that.  No one really influenced me into art, I just starting getting into it in an early age and i was able to discover myself that i liked to draw. I guess i can say that the images around me from television and videogames was an influence on me, because i was able to learn and produce the kind of art work that i grew a custom to.  My parents influence me in a different way, they taught me how to become more persistent and motivated.  I feel that motivation is the greatest thing i can learn from my parents to succeed in art or anything i do in life.

B. What artist so far has left the biggest impact on you? Why?

Max Ernst… I’ve learned a bit about him during my semesters at John Tyler.  I really get into surrealism, because it doesnt’ have to make logical sense.  I’ve seen many of his works and even other surrealists works that have caught my attention.   I somehow want to inolve surrealism into my work or animation.   Here are some artworks that i really like, one from Max and another person name Yves Tanguy who caught my attention when i was searching for surrealist artworks.

Max Ernst L'Ange_du_Foyeur(painter, scupture, graphic artist.. etc)

    Yves Tanguy (surrealist Painter)
